Welcome

to Stop The Stigma Productions, a non-profit we formed to reduce the stigma around mental health issues and addiction. We created a show featuring our own personal experiences with mental health and addiction issues because we are artists. We believe in the transformative power of the arts to bring about change.  We are passionate about creating art that entertains, educates, moves, provokes, persuades, heals, inspires, makes us laugh and cry, makes us think in new ways, and see our world differently.  Some art does all those things at the same time!

Suicide

Suicide rates are continually increasing (from 40k to 45k in only one year). It is the second leading cause of death among 10 - 24 year olds.

Addiction

50% of those with a mental health issue also have an addiction issue. Addiction is a physical, biological, chemical condition, but it manifests in behaviors and personality traits. Like mental illness, addiction also has a stigma and is not often thought of as an illness.

PTSD

This is a disorder that can occur after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. It causes a person to be in fight or flight mode 24/7, even after the dangers are over. Often victims don’t know they have PTSD. It is not just for combat veterans, or disaster victims.

“Looking back over Recovery Summit evaluations since 2003, I see that the 3.98 you earned out of 4.0 at Recovery Summit ‘18 is the highest rating given any component of any Recovery Summit EVER. You truly made a beautiful day for lots of people!”

Miriam K.

"Everyone needs to see this show! It's so educational, but it also means so much for people who have the disorders you're talking about. It means so much to know we aren't alone, we aren't weak or lazy, and there are ways to get help."

— Tori A.

"She's Crazy is excellent because it connects our mental health experience with real life. When you can laugh and sing about mental illness it takes away the hard lines of experiencing it, and makes you realize that your mental illness is part of your experience as a human being living in a community with other people, many who also have their own mental illness. It was a really good way to connect, and the whole experience felt refreshingly intimate. The actors were thoughtful and personable even though they were obviously professionals.”

— Chelie R.

"Thank you for bringing your show to our community. I laughed, I cried, I was challenged and entertained. You told us your stories in your own way with rawness, authenticity, boldness, courage and grace, always aware of the potential effect of your sensitive material on your audience. You found a new way to start an age old conversation. A conversation that is no longer behind doors but right on center stage where it needs to be.”

— Kim L.

"As someone with mental health issues, this show impacted me greatly, knowing I'm not the only one who feels the way I constantly do. I knew I wasn't alone, but it's nice to hear someone else talk about it. I give this play a 12 on a 10 point scale and highly recommend it!"
